U-value calculations remain central to the process of demonstrating compliance with Building Regulations, and the continual tightening of standards means specifiers are keener than ever to select products which will give high levels of performance. The integral database in the JPA Designer U-value modules includes branded products and generic materials, and is designed to help users carry out U-value calculations without having to search for data.
The Materials database & Templates presents designers with key data about products at the point at which they are experimenting with ways of maximising the thermal performance of the building elements.
The Materials database & Templates can be customised to suit your individual requirements.
NEW FEATURE
User modifiable files can now be stored on a network drive, such as a central file server. This makes it possible for several users of JPA Designer to use the same materials database, making it much easier to ensure that everyone in an organisation is using the same data.
For more information on the new feature and all changes incorporated into version 5.03a2, download the 'Technical note 2012/01 JPA Designer version 5.03a2' PDF (left).
If you are a construction product manufacturer you can have your products included in the database for an annual subscription cost of £200 +VAT.
Download the sample database spreadsheet via the link on the left, fill in your products and technical details and email it back to us at jpatechlit@gmail.com
JPA Designer now includes templates for U-value calculations.
Templates allow you to use and create templates to speed up U-value calculations, minimise repetitive work and build up your own library of commonly used calculations.
A U-value template is a pre-completed U-value calculation which you can use as the basis for your own U-value calculation. A template contains the same information as a normal U-value calculation including element
definitions, layers with bridging details and correction factors.
You can either use the template calculation ‘as is’ or use it as a starting point to produce your own calculation, but whichever route you chose, the calculation process will be quicker.
There are three types of U-value templates in JPA Designer:
1)
standard templates for roofs, walls and floors
These are generic calculations which can be adapted by changing materials and thicknesses.
2) manufacturers' templates
A number of construction product manufacturers have supplied U-value templates for typical constructions featuring their products.
3) user-defined templates
These are calculations which you have previously performed, saved as a template and imported.
Standard and manufacturers' templates are supplied with the program.

U-value templates' PDF (left).
If you are a manufacturer of construction materials you can add U-value calculations which include your materials into the set of templates which is distributed with JPA Designer. Offering U-value calculations with your materials makes it easier for designers to include them in U-value calculations and specifications and helps to ensure the materials are included in calculations correctly.
Prepare the calculations the same way you normally do for U-value enquiries, supply us with a single project file containing all the separate calculations and we will add them to our list OR...
Download the demo of JPA Designer and contact us for a full licence or a temporary unlock code so you can produce the templates.
Templates are divided into specific manufacturer Uvalue calculations and generic calculations. In addition, there is also the option to include 'variable layers' (above).
If you already subscribe to the U-value Materials database you can include the first 10 templates for free. The next 20 templates can be included for an annual subscription cost of £50 +VAT.
New customers can join and subscribe to the materials database to get the free templates and subsequent ones at the low rate OR..
